Personally invited by Julia Baird (Cavern Director and John Lennon’s sister), The Mary Stokes Band will be making their debut, bringing ‘The Blues’ back to The Cavern Club!
With a musical history spanning two decades The Mary Stokes Band has performed with BB King, Fats Domino, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley, Hubert Sumlin, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Lowell Fulson, Johnny Copeland, Jeff Healey, Rory Gallagher, Carey Bell, Lurrie Bell, Pinetop Perkins, Georgie Fame, Louisiana Red, Lefty Dizz, John Campbell, U.P. Wilson, Eddie Kirkland and many other blues greats.
Mary Stokes and her band have toured throughout Ireland, Europe, and the U.S.A, performing at numerous festivals and in many of the most iconic Blues Clubs in the World.
In a musical collaboration with sensational Irish guitarist Sarah Michelle, Mary Stokes has fine tuned her authentic blues sound for which she is widely known, while at the same time reinterpreting some favourite Beatles Songs, and some of her original material for the show in The Cavern Club in Liverpool, on December 1st. In addition to Sarah Michelle on guitar, The Mary Stokes Band will feature veteran sidemen Brian Palm on harmonica with Chris Byrne on bass and Robbie Barrett on drums.

The Mary Stokes Band have performed at several festivals in Ireland this Summer, followed by a return to the U.S.A. in August/September for several gigs. Most recently launching a special edition of their forthcoming new album ‘Fire and Ice’ at the band’s legendary appearances to capacity crowds
at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2019.
It was at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival that The Mary Stokes Band first came you the attention of Julia Baird, John Lennon’s sister. Impressed by the sheer energy, commitment and talent of Mary Stokes and her band, Julia suggested they come to perform at the world famous club. With Beatles enthusiast Sarah Michelle and Brian Palm on board, The Mary Stokes Band are looking forward to a memorable day on Sunday, 1st December.
