The Beatles historic Vancouver performance in 1964 is to be re-enacted “live” by the Beatles tribute band The Fab Fourever as part of their 50th Anniversary Tour.
The Fab Fourever, Canada’s Complete Beatles Experience, is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles only performance in Vancouver by re-enacting the historic concert that changed popular music in Western Canada.
The Beatles 1964 tour for many signaled a new dawn in popular music and the show in Vancouver on August 22nd was a sign of the group’s overwhelming overnight success. Screaming girls, fainting fans, a near riot and memories that have lasted a lifetime are all that remains. Now you can prepare to roll back the years to a time when the music was the soundtrack to a generation; music that transported four mop tops from a little club in Liverpool to Empire Stadium in Vancouver and then onward to the musical icons of the century.
“So many people love the Beatles, but didn’t get the chance to see them perform live,” says Jody Tennant who plays the role of Paul McCartney, “now they can re-live the entire Vancouver concert from start to finish as it was played at Empire Stadium 50 years ago.” Kevin Davey as John Lennon adds “the first set we take you on a journey from the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan show in early ‘64, to their full Vancouver show a mere 6 months after they conquered America,” then Davey adds “for the second set, we perform selections from their profound studio albums like Magical Mystery Tour, Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, Let It Be and Abbey Road.”
It is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. For Beatles super-fans Jody Tennant (Paul), Kevin Davey (John), Jean-Luc Perron (George), Paul Kaszonyi (Ringo) and Blake Mackay (keyboards sound effects) the proverb holds true. The Fab Fourever is a musical production performing all of the memorable hits live, without any vocal overdubs or pre-recorded music. Songs like “She Loves You,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Saw Her Standing There,” “Please Please Me,” “Twist and Shout,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Yellow Submarine,” “Penny Lane,” “Strawberry Fields Forever,” “A Day In The Life,” “Hey Jude,” “Get Back” and so many more are performed with precision and respect.
This is a visually stunning tour de force delivered with all the raw energy, witty humor, and undeniable charisma that were the hallmarks of the Fab Four. With vintage period-specific instruments, several full costume changes, and a multi-media backdrop, The Fab Fourever spare no detail with this production. From the Beatles’ invasion of America, through Sgt. Pepper and all the way to Abbey Road their enjoyment of the music translates into a passion and an energy onstage that makes for a tremendous show.

The Fab Fourever is proud to be representing Canada
at the International Beatleweek in Liverpool!
After conquering Western Canada, the Fab Fourever is excited to join an amazing host of performers and speakers at this year’s International Beatleweek.
Organized by Liverpool’s leading tour operator Cavern City Tours, the annual
International Beatleweek Festival celebrates the music of the most famous pop group the world has ever known. Distinct from other festivals, all shows, talks and tours happen in the place where it all began – Liverpool!
Whether you are a Beatles fanatic, a general-interest or indeed a music fan, there is something here for everybody. There is no demographic, as fans of all ages and backgrounds congregate from over forty different countries to make this the biggest and best festival of its type anywhere in the world; how fitting that Liverpool – “Where It All Began” – is the established host to this spectacular celebration.
For seven straight days and nights the city will reverberate to the sound of its four most famous sons. There are parties, concerts, gigs, theatre shows, guest speakers, art exhibitions, tours, auctions, flea markets, film shows, lectures, forums and much, much more.
Typically the best Beatles tribute bands from over 20 countries will provide the backdrop of music for over 15 hours every day. What more can any Beatles fan want? At this year’s festival we have a representative from Canada, The Fab Fourever, and they hail from Vancouver, BC.
“It is a dream come to life,” says Jody Tennant, who plays the role of ‘Paul,’ “to have the opportunity to play on the Cavern Club stage in Liverpool is without question the pinnacle of our career so far.” Kevin Davey as the group’s ‘John’ adds “they’ve asked us to perform 10 shows in 5 days in some amazing venues and we’re not going to disappoint them, we have put together performances that will feature shows from the Cavern Club right up to Magical Mystery Tour.”
Tennant also confirms that his group will take part in the new concept where all 70 of the bands performing have been asked to perform a different album from the careers of John, Paul, George and Ringo ranging from 1963 to the present day. Each band will play that album at least twice over the week. “No two bands will be performing the same album, and we got the luck of the draw with the North American release of Yesterday and Today, also known as the ‘Butcher Album,’ made famous for its eerie album cover. The album has some real gems on it from the Help!, Rubber Soul and Revolver albums,” he states enthusiastically.
The Fab Fourever will be flying out of Vancouver in August to show the good people of Liverpool what Western Canadians have already started to learn…From costumes to guitars, drums to amplifiers, right up to the delivery of those famous vocals, mannerisms, and accents, the Fab Fourever aspire to bring the Beatles back to the masses. Being able to do that in Liverpool England is about as good as it gets to any fan of the British Invasion.
